Bourne to be Wild

August 2023 - January 2024

Bourne to be Wild is a print-based art commission taking inspiration from the wildlife of Bourne Mill and Colchester city, resulting in a series of interpretive large scale paste-up artworks to adorne city walls in a visual rewilding of urban streets.

Bourne Mill, a stunning heritage and wildlife site is located close to the heart of Colchester. Cared for by the National Trust, it offers the perfect place to discover and connect with city wildlife. Creating deeper connections to the importance of this urban ecosystem and the natural world, Bourne to be Wild celebrates diversity across Colchester and the importance of an enriched healthy community for both people and nature through the power of community, art and print.

Bourne to be Wild has been made possible through a commission from the National Trust and Essex Cultural Diversity Project supported by Arts Council England.

We have been welcomed by vibrant and inspiring communities of Colchester and many individuals, groups and organisations. Alongside our commissioners we wish to thank our participating partners:

The Outhouse / Firstsite / Level Best / The Minories / Jumbo Tower / Makerspace Colchester
