Trish Evans

Trish has worked within the arts and cultural sector for over 25 years, as an artist, project manager, facilitator, creative consultant and curator. Alongside her own art practice, she has worked with multiple leading organisations including Arts Council England, Engage, World Event Young Artists, Nottingham Museums and Galleries and Nottingham Contemporary.

She gained a BA(Hons) in Furniture and Product Design at Nottingham Trent University (1996) and soon after commenced her creative career as a lecturer in the arts.

​As the manager of Creative Room for 8 years in Nottingham city, she curated internationally renowned multi-disciplinary youth arts projects connecting young people with practicing artists and international programming, and worked collaboratively The National Theatre, British Council, Liverpool European city of Culture, ACE and HLF portrait of a nation.  

​In 2007 Trish embarked on her first solo commission as an artist with her photographic and installation pieces PIPELINE and TRACE, resulting in her work being shortlisted for the grand prize at Nottingham Castle Open and a commission for LEFT LION.

​Trish, until Sept 2020 was also Head of People and Nature at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, whereby she curated and led multiple creative campaigns and projects connecting people and wider stakeholders to the natural world through innovation, events and research. With nature at its heart, this role involved conservation, landscape scale work, partnerships, policy and campaigning to help recover and protect wildlife locally and nationally. 

Nick Humphreys INSTAR Artist

Nick Humphreys

Working predominantly in the medium of (illustrative) painting, poster design and street art (stencil), under the 'actual size' moniker, Nick has been a practicing artist throughout his life, exhibiting his work across multiple platforms (primarily streets) in the UK.

Nick gained a BA (hons) in fine art at Nottingham Trent University (2007) and has since gone on to produce award winning illustrative works on canvas. He won the top award at the Surface Gallery Street Art exhibition (2014) which saw an evolution of his work into the studio and gallery.

His most recent commissions have included contemporary portraits of Lord Byron, D H Lawrence and Alan Sillitoe as part of the Nott's Rebel Writers (Nottingham Unesco City of Literature) campaign.

As well as a visual artist, Nick is a prolific writer with a life long passion for the natural world and researcher of natural history. He has been a guest writer for many years and has most recently gained a commission to creatively interpret 70 x UK wildlife species for online materials for the environmental sector and also for natural science collections.

Nick has worked extensively in music, performed across the UK as a multi-instrumentalist primarily focused on percussion.  He has worked as a stage manager and event technician at many of the UK's leading arts and music festivals.
